The 85th annual Transportation Research Board meeting will be held in Washington, DC from January 22-26, 2006. TRB is the mother of all transportation conferences in the USA - covering everything from highway and bridges to bus systems and during the past several years has included the best peer reviewed research on carsharing.
Carsharing falls under the New Public Transportation Systems and Technology Committee (AP020). Matt Barth, subcommittee chair reports that this year 9 papers were submitted and 8 were accepted. However, there will only poster sessions relating to carsharing. Although not as detailed as the formal presentations, poster sessions give you a chance to interact one-on-one with the authors. I've read a number of these papers and they are of high quality. Copies of the papers will be on the TRB conference CD and should be available on-line after the conference.
The Carsharing and Station Cars Subcommittee Meeting will be held in the Adams room of the Hilton on Tuesday, January 24, 2006, 7:30pm to 9:30pm. Updates on current activities and ideas for next year will be discussed. The agenda for this meeting is included in the Comment below.
There are two carsharing themes this year: Carsharing in North America and in Internationl - all Asia-related.

The bad news is that TRB isn't cheap, especially if all you want are the poster sessions - $465 for full meal deal of all 4 days ($365 for one day only) for members (it's worth joining rather than paying $665 for non TRB members)! Registration includes the conference CD with PDFs of all the conference papers. You can register on line and get details on these sessions by clicking on the LINK below. Abstracts of the papers mentioned above can be found by clicking on Interactive Preliminary Program and searching for "carsharing".
