How much does carsharing cost in Canada?

Here is a similar monthly trip cost comparison for Canadian CSOs. As before the average trip assumed is 4 hours + 40 km. (25 miles) - which may be a little high. Membership fees are included in the monthly amount (prorated if charged annually). Prices are in Canadian dollars, with current to USD conversion shown in parentheses.

TWO AVERAGE TRIPS PER MONTH (8 hr.+ 80 km.)
Autoshare Simple - $7.25/hr.+15¢/km. = $57 ($49 US)
CommunAuto Occasional - $2/hr.+17¢/km. = $28 ($22 US)
Cooperative Auto Network Low Usage (CAN Vancouver) - $2/hr.+ 38¢/km. = $34 ($27 US)
VrtuCar Occasional (Ottawa) - $3.50/hr.+ 22¢/km. = $51 ($40 US)

EIGHT AVERAGE TRIPS PER MONTH (32 hr.+ 325 km.)
Autoshare Standard - $5.25/hr.+15¢/km. = $197 ($155 US)
CommunAuto Medium - $2/hr.+14¢/km. = $103 ($81 US)
Cooperative Auto Network High Usage (CAN Vancouver) - $2/hr.+ 28¢/km. = $114 ($90 US)
VrtuCar Frequent (Ottawa) - $3.50/hr.+ 22¢/km. = $151 ($119 US)

Business costs must be a LOT LOWER north of the border as monthly rates are a bargain compared to the US! And looking at CommunAuto and CAN's rates, you've got to hand it to them - providing an economical service and making it up in volume. What do you think? Please post your comments below.

PS: To the other Canadian Carshares - If I didn't include your CSO, it wasn't personal.
